Lee Brennan
Lead Development Coach
lbrennan@ymcasouthflorida.org
Lee Brennan is the Head Swim League Coach at the Weston YMCA. She is a certified swim coach with USA Swimming and YMCA Swimming and Diving, and has been with the Weston YMCA swim program since its inception.
She was drawn into the sport mid-life as her three daughters were competitive swimmers. Lee marveled at the discipline, work ethic, and character the sport instilled in them. She became fascinated with the skill and technique it takes to swim well. Learning to swim as an adult in a Masters Swim Program gave Lee an appreciation for good coaching, and inspired her to teach others.
Her philosophy is simple. First, create a safe, nurturing environment where all swimmers feel welcome, valued, and part of the team. Second, teach and demonstrate the YMCA principles of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring. Third, provide a sequential, structured program that emphasizes excellent swimming technique.
Lee’s experiences as a parent, volunteer, swimmer, official, and coach give her a well-rounded perspective and a big-picture view of swimming. She believes every child has their own unique gifts and challenges, and strives to meet them where they are. She utilizes creative teaching methods to connect with each swimmer. Her passion for coaching energizes her and keeps her excited about learning new methods and strategies to help swimmers learn and grow.
Outside the pool, Lee enjoys spending time with her family, practicing yoga, and enjoying nature.
